May - November 2009
The Sai Kung Feature Food was jointly organized by the Sai Kung & Tseung Kwan O Women’s Association and the Working Group in collaboration with three other community based organisations, namely Sai Kung Rural Committee, Hang Hau Rural Committee and Sai Kung Food and Beverages Association. By providing traditional Hakka snack-making classes to the public, the objectives of the Project were to provide self-enhancement training opportunity to the community members, to encourage community-wide participation, to strengthen the cohesiveness of our citizens as well as to enhance residents' sense of belonging to the community. It also provided a chance to the development of social enterprises. This project was launched in May 2009. Traditional Hakka snack had been given free to tourists during the festive events in Hong Kong like “Sai Kung Rugby Fun Day 2009 for China National Day and Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games”, “Sai Kung Food Festival 2009” and “Fright Crime in Sai Kung Carnival 2010”. Food tasting traditional food as such was a favorite activity among local residents and visitors.
